Not always do we have a chance to step outside. The natural environment can be brought indoors through pictures, scents and recordings. I have been fortunate enough to collaborate with a world renowned nature sound expert Lang Elliott who kindly has offered his tracks for our use here on the SoundByNature website.

Please use headphones or quality speakers in a quiet environment to get the full experience of these beautiful recordings.

Avoid making the sound too loud to get a natural listening experience, rather take some time to listen and to get into the sound scapes. Try setting the volume close to what you would actually hear in nature to insure a more relaxing listening experience.

Exercise 1 - Gone with the Wind

Stand in the middle of the room where you have space to move.

Close your eyes and listen to your body breathing... breathing in... breathing out... if you find blocks or tensions, notice them but don't try to change anything... breathing in... breathing out...

Then bring your listening to the recording... Let the feet root you to the ground and the sounds of the wind move your body... Like a tree you are rooted but able to move and bend with the wind... Feel where your body wants to go and let the movement follow the body.

Raise your arms like wings and let them follow the movement of the wind... Your body is flexible, it swings and bends with the wind.

Now let the sounds of the windy forest out with the movement. You can use a shhhh - sound, hum, glide with vowels... Your feet are rooted to the ground. Your body glides with wind. Your knees bend, thoughts fly, the sounds are carried by the wind...

Little by little bring your focus back to the feet, let the movement quiet down, let your hands come down...... Blow the last bits of air out, inhale the peace of nature. Feel how your body has changed. Go on with your day.

Exercise 2 - Peace from the Nature

You can sit, stand or lie down - as you like.

Close your eyes and listen to your body breathing... breathing in... breathing out... if you find blocks or tensions, notice them but don't try to change anything... breathing in... breathing out...

Then bring your listening to the recording... listen to the sounds of the birds. How many are they? Where are they?

Enjoy the sounds and the imaginary scenes that may appear.

Place your hand on your lower stomache. Breathe in the peace of nature. With exhale let out something you want to let go. It could be a thought, a person, an incident, a feeling...

Blow it out.

Breathe in the peace of nature.

Shhh it out.

Breathe in the peace of nature.

Hum it out.

Breathe in the peace of nature.
